It's good seeing these two men, who have spewed so much hate towards each other over the course of the season, finally act as brothers. I really appreciated the fact that both Crixus and Spartacus went into this match with an understanding that whoever lives will honor the wishes of the fallen. I couldn't think of more fitting conditions for their final match to take place under. These two men were really out to kill each other with everything hanging in the balance. This drove Crixus' fight for victory against Spartacus and made their match together all the more exciting. With Doctore elevated in rank, Crixus would have Naevia returned to him. Through flashbacks to the two days prior, the story establishes a reason for Crixus to actually want to defeat Spartacus in their match. Since the episode opened with that match, I had assumed that the two were already working together that was not the case however. There was some great storytelling that went into the lead up for the Crixus versus Spartacus match. In brilliant fashion, Spartacus and the slaves of Batiatus win their freedom through bloodshed and they honor those who have died due to the deceitfulness of their Dominus and Domina. We leave the treacherous confines of Batiatus' Ludus behind with the knowledge that the evils we have seen throughout the season have been avenged. There won’t be another show like it in some time, and we’ll miss it.If I were to sum up " Kill Them All" in one word, it would have to be – Satisfying. It took a ton out of us, but in the best way possible.

The series finale of Spartacus was amazing. DeKnight explained to Entertainment Weekly. But in the finale, a random soldier did Crassus’ dirty work! “It gives it, just a little hint, of the cowardly Romans,” Spartacus showrunner Steven S. No matter what - the good guy will always meet the bad guy on the field of battle, and one of them will kill the other. This is where Spartacus really differed from the classic battle movie/TV tropes.

Though if we’re being honest - we agree that the best way to end this gory show was to have the hero meet his demise at the end, so we applaud the writers for making that hard choice. In the midst of fighting Crassus, Spartacus was suddenly speared in the back by a nameless solider! Talk about a surprise. History tells us that the slave rebellion was squashed by the Roman Empire, but that Spartacus’ body was never actually found, so we were holding out hope that he would somehow make it out alive. If he had to die, this was the way to go. But in a touching final moment, the strong warrior saw his fallen friend, Oenomaus smiling at him.

After being surrounded by Roman soldiers, Gannicus was captured and mercilessly crucified along with other rebel fighters. One of the show’s most badass characters was brutally - and sadly - killed during the finale. The finale did a good job of driving that home. And we’re thankful for it - we like a good sex scene as much as the next guy, but sometimes there are wars to be fought. Over its three seasons, Spartacus has been no different.
